Keyboard shortcuts

Key Action
/ Focus the search box
q Open the quick-add form
g then i Go to Inbox
g then t Go to Focus (today)
g then u Go to Upcoming
? Show and hide the shortcut cheatsheet

g opens a one-second window for its second key. Global shortcuts are ignored while you are typing in an input, a textarea, a select or any editable element, and any shortcut pressed with Ctrl, Cmd or Alt is left to the browser.

q expands the first quick-add form on the page. On a project page that is the project’s own add form; elsewhere it opens the Inbox quick-add dialog.

Key Action
Esc Close the task view, the quick-add dialog, or cancel an inline rename
Tab / Shift+Tab Cycle focus inside an open dialog. Focus is trapped and returns to where it was on close
Enter Save an inline title, project name or section name
Esc Leave selection mode
Control Action
/ buttons in the header Previous and next task, without closing

Tasks, subtasks, sections, projects and calendar entries all drag.

Input Activation
Mouse 5 px of movement (6 px in the sidebar)
Touch Hold 250 ms, then move. A normal swipe still scrolls
Keyboard Focus a project row’s drag handle and use the arrow keys

While dragging a task, horizontal movement changes nesting depth. It takes about three quarters of an indent to shift a level, so vertical drift never accidentally nests something. The dragged row itself indents to the depth it will land at, so what you see is where it goes.

Dragging is only enabled in a project’s Manual sort order. Under any other sort there is no manual position to write.
